$100,530.53 – $122,595.42 p.a. plus superannuation

About the role
We have an exciting and rare opportunity for an experienced and passionate Art Gallery Director to lead the strategic development, management and promotion of the Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf.
The Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, operating since November 2021 has become the cultural heart of Woollahra, supporting creative talent to flourish. The Gallery delivers an extensive and diverse exhibition program through an annual Expression of Interest process and associated cultural programs whilst also providing an Artist in Residence program.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Gallery Director to make an impact on the future direction of Arts and Culture within Woollahra and the next phase of the Woollahra Gallery, including the development and coordination of the highly valued international Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, now in its 23rd year.
This is a permanent full time opportunity with the standard hours of work being 35 hours per week with some early morning, evening and weekend shifts required. A Deed allowance of $150 per week in addition to your base rate of pay will be paid in recognition of this.
About you
You will hold a passion for the arts and have an understanding of the public gallery sector, you will connect, celebrate, and enhance the community and promote the Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf as a welcoming and inclusive space. You will be a high achiever with:
Minimum three years’ experience in managing an art gallery and / or in the Arts industry.
Tertiary qualification in Fine Arts, Curatorial Studies, Museum Studies, Arts Administration or equivalent.
Demonstrated understanding and advanced knowledge of Visual and Contemporary Art.
Demonstrated experience with arts writing and public speaking.
Demonstrated experience with social media.
Ability to deliver a strategic vision for the Gallery.
Practical experience in curating and installing artwork and preparing exhibitions.
Demonstrated initiative and organisational skills, with capacity to develop and apply policies, procedures and guidelines.
Demonstrated consultation and collaboration skills, particularly with artists, private sector, art organisations, and other community groups.
Strong business development skills and a vast network of existing contacts and respect in the arts community.
A strong commitment to delivering quality customer experiences.
High level computer literacy.
Proven experience in leading and managing a team of paid staff and volunteers.
Hold a valid Working with Children Check.
