Curatorial Officer (Collections)
As a member of the Art Gallery’s expanded Curatorial and Exhibitions Team, the Curatorial Officer (Collections) will play a significant role in the delivery of our ambitious artistic program. Under the direction of the Curatorial Lead, this role will support the curatorial and collections programs, requiring a creative and rigorous approach to researching and interpreting works of art, as well as diligence and attention to detail in documentation, display and care for our permanent collection.
This position works with the Gallery’s nationally renowned collection and will play a key coordination role in the administration of the Gallery’s acquisitions and deaccessions. This role is required to follow best practice cataloguing and collection management processes, supporting timely and professional liaison with internal and external stakeholders and undertaking in-depth object and provenance research.
The Curatorial Officer (Collections) will contribute to the delivery of our world-class artistic program, including supporting the development of long-term collection displays and interpretive material relating to the collection through writing, public talks and digital content. This role works in collaboration with the Registration and Collections Officer, as well as alongside the Gallery’s Exhibitions and Audience teams.
This role will suit an organised individual with good attention to detail and administrative skills, a strong drive to research and write about art, a broad knowledge of art histories and an interest in collections of First Nations, Australian and global art.
